LONDON: Alexis Mac Allister’s red card in Liverpool’s 3-1 weekend defeat of over Bournemouth has been overturned on appeal.

The Argentina midfielder, 24, was sent off and suspended for three matches after he clipped Ryan Christie’s foot in the 58th minute at Anfield. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said the decision was “harsh”.

Liverpool appealed and the Football Association’s independent regulatory commission removed the suspension.

A statement said: “An independent regulatory commission has removed Alexis Mac Allister’s three-match suspension following a claim of wrongful dismissal.”

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker had described the sending off decision as “nonsense” on social media.
