LONDON: Ramus Hojlund struck twice in the opening seven minutes as Manchester United closed in on the Champions League zone with a 2-1 victory at Luton.

The £64m Dane punished a defensive mistake after 37 seconds to become the youngest player, at 21 years 14 days, to score in six successive Premier games. Four minutes later he struck again by deflecting an Alejandro Garnacho shot.

United survived despite having to substitute Casemiro and Harry Maguire at halftime after both had seen early yellow cards. They also had to replace injured England defender Luke Shaw.

Crystal Palace go to fellow strugglers Everton on Monday night with Oliver Glasner still waiting to be confirmed as new manager.

The Austrian’s expected appointment was delayed when veteran boss Roy Hodgson, 76, was taken to hospital after falling ill during training in midweek. Assistant Paddy McCarthy will be in charge with Glasner expected to take over for Saturday’s home game against Burnley.
