TOKYO: Japan have won all three points from their World Cup qualifier in North Korea without having gone to Pyongyang.

The scheduled fixture, on March 26, was cancelled at the last minute by North Korea on the grounds of fears of some unspecified infection.

The Japanese federation has confirmed that world federation FIFA’s disciplinary committee has decided to hand them a 3-0 forfeit victory.

The Blue Samurai have four wins from their four matches in Group B of the qualifiers. North Korea have three points after winning 6-1 in Burma in November. They lost 1-0 to Japan in Tokyo.
