KEIR RADNEDGE REPORTS: The increasing footprint of Saudi Arabia across European football has been expanded with Atletico Madrid selling stadium name rights to their home which will now become, formally, the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
The nine-year deal is the latest extension of the airline’s sponsorship which was launched in August lasgt year.
The Riyadh Air logo has been featured on the front of the men’s first team jerseys in all domestic and international matches they have played.
An Atletico statement described the Saudi company as “the most important sponsor in the club’s history.”
It added: “Both Riyadh Air, whose commercial operations will begin in the summer of 2025, and Atlético de Madrid share a passion for excellence, sustainability, and a clear commitment to technological innovation, with the firm goal of improving the experience for our fans and all the visitors who come to our stadium each year to enjoy the top-tier events held here.”
Atletico ceo Miguel Ángel Gil, said: “Just over a year after signing the sponsorship agreement with Riyadh Air, we are all proud and very pleased to announce the extension of the alliance, with the agreement that our stadium will now be called Riyadh Air Metropolitano.”
