LONDON: Former Everton manager David Moyes might be making a short-term comeback at Everton after the club’s new owners sacked manager Sean Dyche three hours before a victory over third tier Peterborough in the FA Cup third round.

Everton’s under-18s boss Leighton Baines and captain Seamus Coleman were caretaker managers at Goodison Park for the Premier Leaghue strugglers but the Friedkin Group is expected to appoint an experienced interim boss at least until the end of the season.

Dyche had been at the training ground earlier in the day and it was his choice of starting line-up.

Portuguese striker Beto scored the opening goal three minutes before half-time, collecting teenager Harrison Armstrong’s through ball before rounding keeper Nicholas Bilokapic. Iliman Ndiaye’s stoppage-time penalty ensured Everton’s place in the fourth round despite a serious leg injury to on-loan striker Armando Broja.
