ZURICH: Three Guatamalan players have had their regional suspensions extended to worldwide bans for life from football after a matchfixing scandal at club and national teams level in CONCACAF.
That decision has been ratified by FIFA’s disciplinary committee after receiving and studying a full file of the facts and actions taken by the Guatemala federation on September 6.
The three are Guillermo Ramirez Ortega, Yony Wilson Flores Monroy and Gustavo Adolfo Cabrera Marroquin. The matches involved were CSD Municipal v Santos (Oct 19, 2010) in the CONCACAF Champions League and the national team matches Guatemala v Venezuela (June 1, 2011) as well as Costa Rica v Guatemala (May 25, 2012).
