LONDON: Arsenal missed a chance, albeit difficult, to regain the Premier League leadership as they were held goalless at home by Chelsea.
Liverpool remained top on goal difference (+23) ahead of the Gunners (+16) who created few chances and were largely stifled by the mixture of the rainswept conditions and a disciplined performance from Chelsea.
The point edged Chelsea back into fourth place, one point behind Manchester City and ahead of Everton on goal difference.
Arsenal felt let down twice over by referee Mike Dean.
The one controversial decision was an apparent kick by William which floored Theo Walcott, the other was in not sending off Mikel John Obi in the first half after a challenge ‘through’ Mikel Arteta. Dean, presumably, gave the Chelsea midfielder the benefit of the doubt because of slippery pitch.
