LONDON: As England prepare for their World Cup send-off against Peru at Wembley tonight so Southampton striker Rickie Lambert is preparing for a medical at Liverpool tomorrow.

The Premier League revivalists will pay an initial £4m for the player with the possibility of further add-ons. He will travel to Merseyside after the Peru game and could be confirmed a Liverpool player as early as Monday.

In the meantime Southampton are under further transfer pressure as Manchester United prepare to resume talks over the transfer of England left-back Luke Shaw.

Saints have already turned down a £27m offer for the 18-year-old but United are expected to raise the bid for a player they want to fill a priority position bearing in mind a need for a successor to veteran Patrice Evra.

Shaw will miss the Peru game through illness.

A third England Saint, Adam Lallana, is wanted by both Liverpool and Tottenham.
