FRANKFURT: Adidas is extending its deal with the German national team for a further six years at €70m per year.
The new deal headed off an attempt by rival brand Nike to cut in on DFB business.
Adidas’s current deal is worth only a third of the price, at around €25m but it was signed before Germany became world champions in 2014.
This new deal will rank as the best kit deal for any natonal team in the world game.
The value of the deal would dwarf Nike’s deal with France – which is €43m a year, signed in 2011, and runs to 2018.
Adidas has already sold 1.3 million shirts Germany shirts in 2016 and has a long and historic association with the DFB going back to the iconic World Cup win over Hungary in 1954.
Best kit deal is Barcelona’s €155m-a-year deal with Nike.
