YAOUNDE: Issa Hayatou has not given up on football despite his ousting as president of the African confederation by Ahmad Ahmad of Madagascar in March.

Hayatou, former senior vice-president and finance chairman of world federation FIFA, has been appointed by Cameroon President Paul Biya as charman of the board of directors of the National Football Academy.

The mission of the academy has been described as being the supervised education of young players together with the training of coaches. The six-year-old academy is also concerned with football documentation.

Karl Enow Ngachu, the coach of Cameroon’s wimen’s national team, has been appointed as director-general of the academy.
