LONDON: Salomon Rondon scored two minutes from time as relegation-bound West Bromwich Albion came from 2-0 down to rescue a 2-2 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League.

In the day’s only other top-level game Watford were held goalless by Crystal Palace.

At The Hawthorns Liverpool dominated hosts West Brom from the start as Danny Ings gave them a fourth-minute lead, and the three points looked assured when Mohamed Salah chipped in his 31st Premier League goal of the season.

With Liverpool easing down though, Jake Livermore scored his first goal for West Brom 11 minutes from time to give them some hope.

The comeback was completed two minutes from the end when Rondon’s diving header made it 2-2 to salvage a point for the Baggies – although they needed a win to realistically give themselves any hope of avoiding the drop.

Relegation can still be confirmed this weekend but that point means Swansea need to beat champions Manchester City while Crystal Palace need a point at Watford to send West Brom down.

Liverpool move three points clear of Tottenham in third but letting two points slip was hardly the way Jurgen Klopp wanted his side to warm up to their huge Champions League semi-final with Roma on Tuesday.

Both West Brom goals again spotlighted Liverpool’s weaknesses at set plays – the first coming after a back post corner wasn’t cleared properly while the second saw more poor marking from a free kick.
