BUENOS AIRES: Argentinian football is in mourning after the suicide of Godoy Cruz forward Santiago Garcia.

The 30-year-old was reported to have apparently shot himself after spending time in psychiatric care because of depression.

A club statement said: “We have to confirm the unfortunate news about Santiago” Morro “García. On behalf of the entire club we feel enormously distressed.”

Garcia had been dropped from the first team squad after a squabble with the board. He was Godoy Cruz’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals in 119 games.
