KEIR RADNEDGE REPORTS: Perennial loser Morocco is understood to have decided yet again to bid to host the FIFA World Cup.
The Moroccans have failed five times already, most recently in bidding for the 2026 finals which will be staged in Canada, Mexico and United States.
FIFA inspection team doubted the country’s ability to cope adequately with the expanded 48-team finals with all the extra demands on transport, accommodation, training sites etc.
Other previous unsuccessful bids were for the finals of 1994, 1998, 2006 and 2010. The only World Cup hosting in Africa thus far was in South Africa in 2010.
Opposition for 2030 will come from a European cohosting offer from Spain and Portugal as well as bid from South America shared between Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and possibly Chile.
A prospective, much-discussed bid from China has been discounted after the country’s football ambitions were frozen amid a string of financial setbacks.

Uruguay has long been planning to bid to host a World Cup which would celebrate its own staging of the inaugural finals in 1930. It is expected that South American confederation CONMEBOL hopes to draw on voting support in FIFA Congress from central/north American region CONCACAF.
The must-talked-about China bid is now considered a non-starter after the country’s football ambitions were stalled after a string of financial setbacks.
