SAO PAULO: Brazilian World Cup legend Pelé is still in hospital, where his stay has been extended due to a urinary tract infection.
Pele has been in hospital undergoing chemotherapy since February 13 and has been advised to extend his stay at the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo by a week.
The 81-year-old was undergoing treatment for a colon tumour detected last September. He suffers from a urinary tract infection, detected during routine examinations.
A hospital statement said: “Clinical conditions are stable and he is expected to be discharged from hospital in the coming days.”
