LONDON: Real Madrid are Europe’s most valuable football club for a fourth consecutive year according to the European Elite 2022 report, published by the Football Benchmark platform,
The club is valued at €3,184m and is the only club to exceed the €3 billion threshold. Madrid are followed by Manchester United (€2.883m) and Barcelona (€2.814m) in the standings.
Football Benchmark notes that the clubs’ value grew by an average 10% in the past year, but that on account of the pandemic, they are yet to have achieved the levels recorded between 2016 and 2020.
The report explains that Real Madrid retains it position at the summit due to its continuous sporting and commercial success, whilst also noting that the club is one of the few who registered a net profit during the seasons impacted by the pandemic.
The report also comments that the new Santiago Bernabéu will give the club a massive revenue boost and, potentially, a competitive advantage over the major European clubs.
