CARDIFF: Manager Rob Page has agreed a new four-year contract with the Football Association of Wales after leading the national team to the World Cup finals for the first time in 64 years.

Page, as interim manager in the stead of Ryan Giggs, has also secured UEFA Nations League A qualification for the first time and reached the last 16 of Euro 2020 finals.

Previously Page was appointed under-21 manager in 2017, overseeing the progress of several players into the senior side, including Dan James, Joe Rodon, Joe Morrell and Chris Mepham.

Page said: “There is no bigger honour than coaching your national team and I can’t wait for the challenge the next four years will bring, starting with our first World Cup in 64 years. This is an exciting time for Welsh football and I hope we can make the country proud in November and continue our success by qualifying for more major tournaments in the future.”

FAW president Steve Williams said: “I am delighted that Rob and the FAW have agreed a four-year
contract to take Cymru to the next stage. The FIFA World Cup is the perfect opportunity to show Wales on the world stage, and I am positive that Rob is the best person for the role, in Qatar and beyond.”

Page is now preparing his side for the World Cup in Qatar as well as the UEFA Nations League matches against Belgium in Brussels (September 22) and Poland in Cardiff (September 25).
