FRANKFURT: Another star casualty will miss the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar.
After N’GoloKanté, Paul Pogba and Diogo Jota the latest addition to the absentee list is Germany forward Timo Werner.
The former Chelsea player tore a left ankle ligament playing for RB Leipzig against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday. His club have said he wil not play again until next year.
The striker had become a regular starter for Germany coach Hansi Flick.
This season he has contributed nine goals and three assists in 16 club games.
