KEIR RADNEDGE REPORTS: Juventus have tumbled down Serie A after being punished for a second scandal in less than two decades after the Calciopoli shock in 2006.
The appeals committee of the Italian football federation (FIGC) has penalised the Turin club 15 points for altering the valuation of footballers in transfers to create capital gains and inflate their financial balance to avoid financial fair play.
The case had been reopened at the request of the FIGC prosecutor who had demanded that the club be deducted nine points in Serie for accounting irregularities.
Juve, formerly third in the table with 37 points, thus drop to 10th place and far off the Champions League slots.
The court also suspended the Juventus directors held responsible.
Fabio Paratici, former sports director who now works for Tottenham, has been suspended for two and a half years; former president Andrea Agnelli has been banned for two yewars along with director Maurizio Arrivabenne. Other punishments were one years four months for Federico Cherubini (current sports director) and eight months for Pavel Nedved, his predecessor.
The hearing also saw the acquittals of Sampdoria, Empoli, Genoa, Parma, Pisa, Pescara, Pro Vercelli and Novara along with 52 administrators.
Juventus have 30 days in which to appeal.
