LONDON: Harry Kane enjoyed a double celebration as Tottenham beat Manchester City 1-0 in North London in the Premier League.
England captain Kane was not only the match-winner but his strike, after only 15 minutes, established him ahead of Jimmy Greaves as Tottenham’s 267-goal record marksman. It was also his 200th goal in the Premier League.
Kane said: “It’s a magical moment, one I’ll never forget.”
City fought back but came closest to a goal only when Riyad Mahrez hit the bar just before halftime. City have not scored in their five visits to Spurs’ new home.
Tottenham moved within one point of the Champions League places after surviving the closing minutes with 10 men after the double-yellow expulsion of Cristian Romero. Spurs manager Antonio Conte was absent, recovering from gallbladder surgery.
