—- Chelsea have their work cut out if they are to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League after losing their second round first leg 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund in Germany.

The Blues were unfortunate to come away empty handed from Signal Iduna Park, as they created plenty of chances but a string of good saves and poor finishing proved costly.

Dortmund were clinical, with Karim Adeyemi scored a brilliant solo winner from their only ‘big chance’ of the match, but there are plenty of positives for Graham Potter’s side to take into the second leg.

Benfica put in an extremely dominant display in Belgium against Club Brugge, running out 2-0 winners to put one foot in the quarter-finals.

The Portuguese side, who deservedly topped a qualifying group featuring PSG and Juventus, could have won by a wider margin than by the goals provided by João Mário (51min, pen) and Neres Campos (88).

Brugge have now failed to score in four successive Champions League matches.
