FRANKFURT: Bayern Munich’s week has gone from bad to worse with the fall-out from their 3-0 defeat by Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final first leg on Tuesday.

Senegal forward Sadio Mane has been dropped from their squad for Saturday’s league Bundesliga clash with Hoffenheim after reports that he punched team-mate Leroy Sane in a bust-up immediately after the tie.

Reports in Germany claim the players had to be separated by team-mates.

A Bayern statement said ex-Liverpool forward Mane has been dropped because of “misconduct” and that he would also be fined.

Bild said former Liverpool player Mane, a two-time African footballer of the year, had complained about the way Germany winger Sane spoke to him after the defeat.

After flying back to Germany Mane was picked up privately at the airport while Sane got the team bus.

Neither Mane nor Sane have commented.

The Champions League quarter-final return is being played in Munich next Wednesday.
