LONDON: Frank Lampard is still looking for anything but a defeat as interim manager at Chelsea after the Blues’ Champions League campaign came to an end with a 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge and a 4-0 beating on aggregate.

Chelsea had first-half opportunities, their biggest seeing Marc Cucurella denied by Thibaut Courtois from close range, but were punished for their wasteful nature in front of goal.

Rodrygo, early and late in the second half, grabbed both of Real’s goals, who were enjoying chances on the counter attack as the game played out at an expected pace.

Courtois was forced into six saves across the 90 minutes, yet the majority of those were comfortable as they came from distance.
