LONDON: Heung-min Son, Richarlison and Tottenham returned to their entertaining best in beating injury-hit Newcastle 4-1.
Spurs’ captain Son provided the assists for first-half goals from Destiny Udogie and Richarlison. Later Son scored Spurs’ fourth from the first Spurs penalty taken by a player other than Harry Kane since April 2021.
Richarlison scored No3 on the hour. The goals were his Richarlison’s second and third in 40 appearances since his £60m arrival from Watford in 2022.
Udogie was only the second Italian to score in the league for Tottenham after Nicola Berti in 1997-98.
Everton, despite their 10-point penalty for financial fairplay breaches, are out of the relegation zone.
They registered a third consecutive league win for the first time since 2021 in beating Chelsea 2:0. Abdoulaye Doucoure and substitute Lewis Dobbin scored the second-half goals after Jordan Pickford’s fine early saves from Enzo Fernandez and Cole Palmer.
Chelsea suffered more injury problems after having to substitute captain Reece James and goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
