KEIR RADNEDGE REPORTS: Harry Kane remains clear leader in the ESM Golden Shoe ranking for the leading marksman in European league football but Lautaro Martinez is chasing hard.
Kane struck twice at the weekend – including a stoppage-time winner – to lead Bayern Munich to a 2-1 victory over RB Leipzig, ending a three-game losing run in all competitions. Meanwhile Martinez also scored twice in Italian league leaders Internazionale’s 4-0 win at Lecce.
England’s captain totals 27 goals so far, five clear of Martinez with Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe on 21.
Marksmen from the Big Five (England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain) benefit from a points multiplier of two. Players in leagues between places six and 22 of the UEFA national ranking 2022 receive a 1.5 coëfficiënt. As in former years the ranking does not include play-offs or cup matches in the official ranking.
