COLOGNE: Belgium put their UEFA Euro 2024 campaign back on track with an impressive 2-0 win over Romania in Group E in Cologne.

A goal in each half from Youri Tielemans and Kevin De Bruyne kept the group wide open. All four teams – including Slovakia and Ukraine – have four points.

Tielemans began the move which led to the opening goal after 75 seconds, moving forward to strike home after a left-wing cross from Jeremy Docku was pushed back into his path by Romelu Lukaku.

The centre-forward, as in the first game, had two goals disallowed.

De Bruyne went close twice early in the second half and finally doubled Belgium’s lead with 10 minutes left when he chased down a long clearance from goalkeeper Koen Casteels.

Wednesday’s final matches, with everything at stake and everyone on three points, see Belgium play Ukraine and Romania face Slovakia.
