LISBON: Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 900th career goal in Portugal’s home Nations League victory over Croatia.
Ronaldo put his side 2-0 up at the Estadio da Luz in the 34th minute when he got on the end of a Nuno Mendes cross with a tap-in volley from close range, before falling to the ground looking emotional at reaching another milestone.
The 39-year-old has now netted 131 international goals, 450 for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, 101 for Juventus and 68 for his current club Al Nassr as well as five for his first club Sporting Lisbon.

Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot had put Portugal ahead early on but later turned the ball into his own net as Croatia responded before the break.
Portugal are level on points at the top of League A Group 1 after the opening game with Poland, who beat Scotland 3-2 with a with last-gasp penalty in Glasgow. Midfielder Nicola Zalewski converted the kick after Robert Lewandowski had also scored from the spot earlier.
Poland took the lead in the eighth minute through Sebastian Szymanski, who received a short pass from Lewandowski and struck from a distance, before Lewandowski doubled the advantage just before the break after Anthony Ralston fouled Zalewski.
Billy Gilmour pulled a goal back seconds after the interval, unleashing a low shot from a rebound, and Scott McTominay levelled in the 76th minute from close range before Zalewski converted the winner after being fouled by Grant Hanley.
Poland continue their fourth consecutive campaign in League A against Croatia on Sunday when Scotland, playing in the competition’s top tier for the first time, travel to Portugal.
