NYON: Qatar’s interest in promoting itself through international football did not end with the World Cup finals hosting in 2022. Now Qatar Airways is sponsoring the UEFA Champions League as “official airline partner” in a deal that runs until 2030.
The airline, already tied in with UEFA’s Euro 2024, Nations League and the European Under-21 Championship, now also takes up sponsorship of the Super Cup, Youth League and Futsal Champions League.
UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin, happy with the latest step in the Champions League expansion after the introduction of its new format, said: “Qatar Airways and UEFA are united in their passion for sports and global business excellence.
“This shared commitment is the foundation of our long-lasting partnership as we strive to provide football fans worldwide with exceptional experiences. We are delighted to expand our partnership to another level as we embark on a new era of the UEFA Champions League.”
Other Champions League sponsors are BET365, Crypto.com, FedEx, Heineken, Just Eat Takeaway.com, Mastercard, PepsiCo and PlayStation.
