PARIS: Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Qatari president of French champions Paris Saint-Germain and a member of the UEFA executive committee, has been indicted over the complex and long-running Arnaud Lagardere scandal.

The Qatari boss of Paris Saint-Germain was indicted on February 5 for “”complicity in vote buying and violation of freedom to vote” and “complicity in abuse of power”.
Lagardère is a 63-year-old French businessman, the general and managing partner of corporate media giant Lagardère SCA, holding company of the Lagardère Group and the chairman and ceo of Hachette.
Al-Khelaïfi is suspected of having helped Lagardère obtain a favorable vote from Qatar Holding LLC, a subsidiary of the sovereign wealth fund Qatar Investment Authority and then the main shareholder of his group, at the general meeting of shareholders on May 3, 2018.
This would have been in return for a promise made to the Qataris: to appoint Jamal Benomar , a British-Moroccan diplomat, to the supervisory board of Lagardère SCA, to represent the interests of the emirate.
