10 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS TO REPRESENT GREAT BRITAIN AT 2025 UCI JUNIOR TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
—- British Cycling can today announce the 15-strong squad of future stars that has been selected to represent Great Britain at the UCI Junior Track World Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands from 20-24 August 2025.
Having recently scooped six European titles, two silver medals and a bronze at last month’s UEC Jnr/U23 Track European Championships, this impressive squad will be looking to replicate their success on the world stage.
Stepping up to lead the European team pursuit title-winning junior women’s endurance squad in her second word championships will be Erin Boothman. Alongside the team win, she also picked up a gold medal in the new 1km time-trial event, setting two world records to boot.
Boothman also won the Madison with teammate Abi Miller who will travel to Apeldoorn for her first world championships. Individual pursuit bronze medallist Arabella Blackburn will also be vying for gold alongside Evie Smith and Phoebe Taylor as they all compete in their track debut on the world stage.
On the men’s endurance side, Henry Hobbs will use his experience to lead the team, having just won the junior individual pursuit European title, setting a new world record in the process. He will be joined by talented debutants Rory Gravelle, Max Hinds, Albie Jones and Dan Thompson – all looking to scoop some silverware.
In the sprint events, a brand-new squad of up-and-coming riders will take to the boards to prove their mettle against the rest of the world. Having won the European team sprint title in style, Archie Gill, Kristian Larigo, Ioan Hepburn and Charlie Holt will be looking to bag themselves a rainbow jersey. Bronwen Howard-Rees will be the solo competition in the women’s field, looking to pick up invaluable experience and continue her run of strong performances this season.
Performance Director for the Great Britain Cycling Team, Stephen Park CBE said:
“Off the back of a fantastic run of results at the European Championships and the Junior National Track Championships, the World Championships provides the next opportunity for our talented young riders to show their skills. I know they are keen to win at world level and I am excited to see how they get on.
“To see our pathway riders already delivering podium results at international level in the first year of an Olympic cycle gives real confidence for what will be possible in LA. These performances keep our more experienced riders at the top of their game knowing that there are up-and-coming talents hot on their heels. It also proves that our talent identification and grass roots programmes are working and providing a strong pipeline of talent as we look further ahead to Brisbane 2032.”
