CAIRO:  Egypt has cancelled friendlies against Kenya and Botswana scheduled for later this month after last week’s  Port Said football disaster that left 74 people dead.

National coach Bob Bradley has also postponed the announcement of his squad for the 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic on February 29. Bradley had been due to announce the squad today for a training camp but these plans have been put on hold.

All football activities in the country have been suspended and members of Egypt’s Football Association have stepped down. Egypt, winners of three-successive African Cup of Nations titles, are absent from this year’s tournament, which is currently taking place in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
