MUNICH: Portugal’s Pedro Proenca will be the man in charge as referee of tomorrow’s Champions League Final in Munich between hosts Bayern and English underdogs Chelsea writes KEIR RADNEDGE.

Proenca, formally appointed by the UEFA Referees Committee, made his international debut in 2003 and has officiated in 65 UEFA matches since then.

This season the Lisbon finance director has handled five Champions League matches including, among others, the second round return between Internazionale and Marseille in Milan as well as two Europa League matches, including the first-leg of the quarter-final between Schalke and Athletic Bilbao.

Assistants for Proença will be fellow countrymen Bertino Miranda and Ricardo Santos. The fourth official will be Carlos Velasco Carballo from Spain. The two additional assistant referees are Jorge Sousa and Duarte Gomes. A reserve assistant referee – Tiago Trigo – completes the line-up of the refereeing team.
