LONDON: Brendan Rodgers is swapping Swansea for Anfeld after being appointed manager of Liverpool on a three-year contract.
Rodgers, who guided Swansea into the Premier League and then to an 11th-place finish in their first season in the Premier League, had turned down Liverpool’s first approach but re-emerged as favourite after talks with Wigan’s Roberto Martinez collapsed.
Liverpool’s American owners, Fenway Sports Group, will have to pay compensation of around £5m for the 39-year-old who thus succeeds Kenny Dalglish.
Uncertainty surround the possibilioty of Dutchman Louis Van Gaal coming as director of football.
