TOKYO: European champions Chelsea will start their bid to conquer the world as well againstMexico’s Monterray or the yet-to-be-decided champions of Asia in the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan in December.

The Blues, who qualified by defeating Bayern in Munich in last season’s Champions League final, set out on the next stage of the journey in pursuit of global domination in the semi-final on December 13 in Yokohama, Japan.

The draw, just made by FIFA, pittedMonterreyagainst the team representing Asia – who will not be known until the final of the Asian Champions League on November 10 – in the quarter-final stage, with a meeting with Roberto di Matteo’s Chelsea at stake.

The other quarter-final will see the champions of Africa face the winners of a play-off between the winners of the host Japan’s championship and New Zealand’s AucklandCity.

The winners of that match will face South American champions Corinthians in the other last-four game ahead of the final on December 16.
