DORTMUND: Poland striker Robert Lewandowski hit a magnificent all four goals as Borussia Dortmund strode towards next month’s Champions League Final at Wembley after running down Real Madrid 4-1.

The first all-German final in the history of the Champions Cup – right back from 1956 – is looming since Bayern Munich thrashed Barcelona 4-0 in their own semi-final opener down south in Bavaria on Tuesday.

Dortmund shrugged off all the potentially damaging fuss over Mario Gotze’s summer move to Bayern to stage a dazzling display. Lewandowski, who could follow Gotze to Munich after refusing to extend his contract past 2014, doubled his value after becoming the first player to score four goals in a Champions League semi-final.

The Pole opened up after eight minutes then old added three more in the second half, including a thunderous penalty. Cristiano Ronaldo had equalised just before the break to give the record nine-times winners just the glimmer of a hope of a comeback next Tuesday.

Dortmund, who had beaten Real at home in the group stage, had Gotze to thank for the cross which set up Lewandowski’s opening goal. However a Dortmund defensive mistake by Mats Hummels, misjudging back pass, freed to Gonzalo Higuain to feed the unmarked Ronaldo to score his 12th goal of the competition.

Ronaldo thus joined Thierry Henry on 50 goals in fourth place of the Champions League all-time scorers list.

Lewandowski then struck twice in five minutes after the break as Dortmund regained control. He was set up by Reus in the 50th minute then converted a Marcel Schmelzer assist.

Finally Lewandowski rammed home a penalty to wrap up Madrid coach Joe Mourinho’s heaviest defeat in European competition.
