LONDON: Chelsea has signed a 10-year extension to its kit partnership with Adidas in a deal that the English Premier League club has claimed is the biggest it has signed with a partner.

The German sportswear giant will continue as Chelsea’s official sponsor and sportswear supplier through to 2023. The partnership between the two organisations first began in 2006.

Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay said: “We are delighted to extend our partnership until 2023 after a highly successful first seven seasons. Both organisations share the same ethos and ambition and the new deal reaffirms Adidas’ belief in the club’s status in world football.”

Herbert Hainer, CEO of Adidas, added: “Both Adidas and Chelsea have a long and proud heritage in football and we are delighted to continue our working relationship with one of Europe’s elite football clubs.

“We look forward to many more years of success, working closely with the club on product, marketing and grassroots initiatives in the UK and around the globe.”

Chelsea announced in September 2012 that Samsung had elected to extend its shirt sponsorship deal with the club through to the end of the 2014-15 season. Chelsea first partnered with the Korean electronics firm in 2005.
