RIO DE JANEIRO: Brazil’s Neymar crowned a personally triumphant Confederations Cup by collecting the top player prize, as voted by the tournament’s phalanx of accredited media.

Runner-up to the new Barcelona superstar was one of his club-mates, Spain’s Andres Iniesta, followed by Brazil’s in-demand midfielder Paulinho.

The golden boot for top scorer went to Spain’s Fernando Torres with Fred  runner-up. Both scored five goals but Torres played fewer games, four, compared with Fred’s five. Neymar was third on four goals with more assists than Abel Hernandez who also scored four goals in his only one appearance for ur.

Spain also collected the fair play award which was presented by FIFA president Sepp Blatter to Iker Casillas.

Brazil’s Julio Cesar received the prize as top goalkeeper. Ironic to recall that six weeks ago he had just been relegated out of the English Premier League with Queens Park Rangers.
