Neymar leaves it late to make his start for Barcelona
WARSAW: Barcelona had to hit back twice for a 2-2 draw in Poland with Legia Gdansk on Neymar’s – brief – debut for the Spanish champions.
Captain Jaroslaw Bieniuk opened the score for the Legia in the 18th minute with Sergi Roberto levelling seven minutes later; Piotr Grzelczak shot past keeper Oier early in the second half with Leo Messi equalising shortly before being substituted in the 69th minute.
Neymar, South American Footballer of the Year and top player at last month’s Confederations Cup, played only the final 11 minutes as substitute for the injured Alexis Sanchez. He said later that he had been “very proud” to play for Barcelona.
He is expected to make his first start for his new club, wearing the No11, is next Friday’s Gamper Trophy home curtain-raiser against his old club Santos.
