PARIS: Marseille made it two wins out of two in France after an early goal from Andre-Pierre Gignac set them on the way to a 2-0 victory over Evian Thonon Gaillard.

Gignac, who opened the scoring in the second minute of the previous week’s 3-1 triumph at Guingamp, converted an assist from Rod Fanni after 16 minutes. Keeper Steve Mandanda made two fine saves before Marseille extended their lead in the 67th minute through new signing Dimitri Payet.

Champions Paris Saint-Germain, who drew 1-1 at Montpellier in thier opening fixture, host Ajaccio.

In Germany treble winners Bayern Munich beat Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 with a Mario Mandzukic volley in the 14th minute to equal their club record of 27 successive league games without defeat.

Bayern coach Pep Guardiola had Germany midfielder Mario Goetze on the bench for the first time since he arrived from Borussia Dortmund after recovering from injury.

Guardiola said: “Compared with the past few weeks we controlled the game much better. It is not easy after international matches as we only had three days to prepare but we still created many chances. I am happy and 100 per cent satisfied.”

In other games Hoffenheim thrashed Hamburg 5-1 away and Wolfsburg, with new signing Luiz Gustavo from Bayern, thrashed Schalke 4-0.

In Spain, ahead of Sunday starts for Barcelona and Real Madrid, Valencia beat Malaga 1-0 thanks to a mistake by visiting keeper Willy Caballero to provide new coach Miroslav Djukic with an opening day victory over fellow debutant Bernd Schuster.

Argentine Caballero came off his line to meet a free-kick but fumbled the ball and Ricardo Costa shot home.

Real Sociedad beat  Getafe 2-0 while Bilbao were 2-1 winners away to Valladolid.
