MADRID: Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed that the club are considering selling naming rights to their iconic Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

The sponsor would have to ‘share’ the title with the name of Bernabeu, the president who turned Madrid from a mid-table club in Spain into a power in Europe and the world and record nine-times Champions Cup winners.

Reports in the Spanish media have linked both Audi and Emirates Airlines with negotiations to become the first Liga club to undertake such a sponsorship which has become commonplace in Germany and England.

The cost would probably be an estimated E50m per year.

A revision of the name could see Madrid’s central home becoming, formally, the Estadio Sponsor Santiago Bernabeu.
