AGADIR: Ronaldinho’s dream of winning a world club title as a springboard to a World Cup recall ended in failure as Atletico Mineiro suffered a shock 3-1 defeat by Raja Casablanca in their FIFA Club World Cup semi-final.

The Moroccans will face European champions Bayern Munich in the final after striking twice in the last 10 minutes against the South American title-holders. Their players mobbed Ronaldinho – their hero – at the final whistle in astonishing scenes.

The final will be only the second since the tournament switched to its current format in 2005 that the final has not been between a South American and European team.

Mouhssine Iajour gave Raja, who qualified as champions of the host nation, the lead early in the second half before Ronaldinho curled a free kick in off the post to level for the Belo Horizonte club.  Mohaine Moutaouali fired home a controversial penalty in the 83rd minute and Vivien Mabide wrapped it up in stoppage time with a breakaway goal.
