RIO DE JANEIRO: David Luiz has confirmed, after a training session with World Cup hosts Brazil in Terespolis, that he now considers himself a player of French champions Paris Saint-Germain rather than Chelsea.

The central defender, subject of a £40m move, said: “This will be a new stage in my life, a new project in a new country with a new language.

“I was very happy at Chelsea,  I made a lot of headlines, I made friends, everyone respected me but I think I had come to the end of a cycle. Now I will begin another in Paris, after the World Cup.

“I have to wait until the transfer window is formally open and all the papers have been signed but I can confirm that everything is OK. It’s official, I’m off to Paris . . . to win titles.”
