SETE LAGOAS: Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has insisted he has recovered completely from knee surgery and is ready to knock England out of the World Cup.

Suarez, who underwent keyhole surgery before the finals, watched from the substitutes’ bench as his Celeste teammates suffered a shock 3-1 defeat to Costa Rica in their opening match in Group D.

Suarez said: “I was desperate to get out there and help but it was probably best not to play. Now I can play against England. I know all the players in the England team, either by being team-mates or as opponents. They have defensive weaknesses we can exploit – though, obviously, I am not going to tell the media about them.”

Hard work

The Premier League’s top scorer said he had feared that he would miss the World Cup so he never let up at any moment during his convalescence.

Suarez added: “This means that when I go out to play I am able to play at 100pc.”

He sent a message to Uruguay’s worried fans, telling them: “Keep trusting in us. We are determined to progress.”

Suarez and Jorge Fucile Gastón Ramírez are expected to start against England in place of Diego Forlan and suspended Maxi Pereira.
