SANTIAGO: Kia Motors has been unveiled as a top-tier ‘platinum sponsor’ of the Copa America Chile 2015 tournament.

The deal, confirmed during a ceremony at Santiago’s Estadio Nacional de Chile on Friday, marks the Korean carmaker’s second consecutive sponsorship of the Copa America, with the company having previously served as a ‘gold sponsor’ for the 2011 tournament in Argentina.

As part of its deal Kia will supply a fleet of 140 vehicles to the local organising committee, while the company will activate the sponsorship through pitchside advertising, TV advertisements, car displays and further promotions across all participating countries.

“We are very pleased for this opportunity to continue our involvement with the world’s oldest and South America’s biggest football championship,” said Kyung-Han Kim, the president of Kia’s Central and South American regional headquarters.

“The signing of this sponsorship agreement with Conmebol is a clear indication of our commitment to creating an engaging and enjoyable experience for football fans, especially in the Central and South America region.”

Copa America Chile 2015 is scheduled to kick off on 11th June with the champion to be crowned on 4th July. Ten South American teams and two invited sides from outside the region – Mexico and Jamaica – are set to compete.
