LONDON: Barcelona breezed to a 3-0 win over BATE Borisov in the Champions League, two strikes from Brazilian Neymar sandwiching a 60th minute Luis Suarez effort.

The win took Barcelona five points clear at the top of Group E from Roma, who moved into second after an entertaining 3-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen.

Roma looked to be cruising after goals from Mohamed Salah and Edin Dzeko inside the first half-hour, before Admir Mehmedi and Javier Hernandez drew the Germans level.

Miralem Pjanic’s 80th minute penalty sealed the points for Roma after Leverkusen captain Omer Toprak was red-carded for pushing over Salah.

Zenit St Petersburg stretched their 100 per cent record in Group H to four games with a 2-0 win over Lyon, for whom Maxime Gonalons was sent off for two bookable offences.

A goal in each half from striker Artem Dzyuba secured another win although the hosts did have defender Alexander Anyukov sent off late on.

Valencia stayed in second place despite a 1-0 loss at Gent, for whom Sven Kums scored the winning penalty in the second half.

In Group F Thomas Muller led the way with two goals as Bayern Munich left Arsenal’s Champions League dream in tatters with a stunning 5-1 win in Germany.

Early strikes from Robert Lewandowski, Muller and David Alaba gave Pep Guardiola’s men – who had lost to the same opponents at the Emirates Stadium last month – a huge half-time advantage.

Arjen Robben made matters worse for Arsene Wenger’s men when he added Bayern’s fourth and despite Olivier Giroud reducing the deficit on 69 minutes, Muller struck his second in the 89th minute to pile on the misery.

The result, coupled with a 2-1 win for Olympiacos over Dinamo Zagreb in Athens, means Arsenal must win their two remaining group games to stand any chance of progressing to the knockout stages.

The Greek side came from behind to move six points clear of the Gunners, despite Armin Hodzic giving the Croatian side a first-half lead.

Felipe Pardo dragged his side level soon after coming on as a substitute and grabbed a dramatic late winner after Zagreb’s Josip Pivaric was sent off for two bookable offences and Kostas Fortounis had missed from the penalty spot.

In Group G Chelsea relieved some of the pressure on under-fire boss Jose Mourinho after a 2-1 win over Dynamo Kiev at Stamford Bridge.

Aleksandar Dragovic headed a Willian cross into his own net to give the Londoners the lead, then fired his side’s equaliser on 77 minutes, before Willian won it seven minutes from time with a brilliant free-kick.

The win moved Chelsea into second place and three points behind leaders Porto, who boosted their hold on the group with a 3-1 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel.

Goals from Cristian Tello, Andre Andre and Miguel Layun sent the Portuguese side into a 3-0 lead before a late Eran Zehavi gave the hosts some consolation.
