PARIS: The end-of-match pitch invader who wanted a selfie with Cristiano Ronaldo in Paris last night will cost the Portuguese football federaton a fine writes KEIR RADNEDGE.

European federation UEFA has levelled a control and discipline charge against the federation which is statutorially responsible for the behaviour of its supporters.

The fan ran on to the pitch at the final whistle of Portugal’s goalless draw with Austria in which the Real Madrid superstar had missed a penalty and had a goal disallowed on his record 128th appearance for his country.

Ronaldo gestured to a security official to allow the fan to take the picture before he was detained.

UEFA has also charged the Hungarian federation for fan disorder inside the stadium during their match against Iceland in Marseille and charges over the setting off of fireworks and throwing of objects have been levelled at the Belgian FA after the Red Devils’ 3-0 win over the Republic of Ireland.

UEFA’s ethics and disciplinary body meeting has yet to set a date to consider the charges. It meets tomorrow/Monday to decide how to punish the Croatia federation for the crowd incidents which interrupted Friday’s 2-2 draw against Czech Republic.
