PARIS: Laurent Blanc has had his contract as coach of French champions Paris Saint-Germain cut short by the club’s Qatari owners, according to his agent Jean-Pierre Bernes writes KEIR RADNEDGE.

Bernes confirmed several weeks of speculation by saying that a severance agreement was expected to have been sorted by the end of the week.

Blanc took over from Real Maderid-bound Carlo Ancelotti in 2013 and has guided PSG to three successive league titles as well as also the French cup in the last two years.

However the club’s owners were impatient for greater progress in the Champions League and were reportedly extremely unhappy to see PSG beaten in the quarter-finals of the Champions League by a Manchester City side owned ou of Abu Dhabi.

To try to resolve the European issue, PSV are expected to contract Spaniard Unai Emery from UEFA Europa League holders Sevilla.

Emery, after the final victory over Liverpool last month, described his relationship with Sevilla as like a marriage but Sevilla confirmed last week that a divorce had been agreed.
