LONDON: England have cancelled a proposed friendly at the start of next month so the managerial debut for new boss Sam Allardyce will be the World Cup qualifier in Slovakia on September 4.

The first prestige friendly of Allardyce’s reign, since he succeeded Roy Hodgson after the Euro 2016 upset against Iceland, will be at home to desposed European champions Spain on November 15.

Spain are also under new management with former successful youth coach Julen Lopetegui having succeeded Vicente Del Bosque who retired after the failure in France.

La Roja beat England 2-0 in Alicante in November 2015 but lost on their last visit to Wembley to a single goal from Frank Lampard.
