GLASGOW: Celtic wrapped up a historic modern season by not only completing the treble but doing so unbeaten when they defeated Aberdeen 1-0 to add the Scottish FA Cup to the league championship and the league cup.

Aberdeen made a perfect start with an early goal from Jonny Hayes after nine minutes but Celtic levelled within two minutes through Stuart Armstrong and late Celtic pressure was rewarded with a winner from Tom Rogic.

Celtic not only lifted the cup for the first time since 2013 but became the first side in Scotland to complete an unbeaten treble.

It is the 37th time the Hoops have lifted the world’s oldest national football trophy and the fourth time they have won the treble – and their first since 2001.

Manager Brendan Rodgers thus completed a perfect first season in charge.
