Cook has been world football federation’s chief member associations officer in October 2016. She was already an OBE and had been a board member of Women In Football for nine years before taking up her FIFA role.

Other British sportspeople recognised in the list include rugby’s Sam Warburton, former Lions and Wales captain and Heather Knight among a number of England women cricketers who won their World Cup.

MBEs also go to Paralympic long jump silver medallist Stefanie Reid and Sue Anstiss, co-founder of the Women’s Sport Trust charity.
