MADRID: Centre-forward Alvaro Morata will be paraded tomorrow midday as a new signing by Atletico Madrid after joining the Spanish club on loan from Chelsea until the end of the 2019-20 season.

The 26-year-old joined the Blues from Real Madrid in July 2017 for a then club-record fee of £60m on a five-year contract. He has made 47 Premier League appearances for the Blues, scoring 16 times.

Morata, whoHe had a medical in Spain on Sunday, played for Atletico as a youngster before joining Real Madrid.

The move comes after Chelsea signed Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain last week from Juventus, also on loan.

Morata’s last appearance for Chelsea was against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on January 5 when he scored both goals in a 2-0 victory.

He said: “I’m very happy and proud to be here. I can’t wait to start training, meet my new team-mates and play.”
